Kate Jackson's battle with cancer, served up with a wink and a slice of sass

Kate M. Jackson was a graduate of the Boston Latin Academy class of 1988, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Her blog, Pointy Universe, is a great blog that takes us on her journey with with interest, humor, and ruefulness about what happens when cancer occurs and how people deal with the hair falling out, the 15 hour sleep sessions, and the nausea.

Kate, should you read my blog between the sessions of red death and radiation, I graduated two years later in 1990...I'm the tall red headed guy with glasses. The DFCI people are fantastic and will help you through this journey...they helped my dad through his treatments until his final days. Ad aspera ad astra, and your hair will grow back!

Hey Brian:
I just bookmarked your blog! Thank you for your kind comment on mine and your posting here. I definitely remember you from the BLA corridors. We just had our 20th reunion this past Nov. Happy to have connected up here in the blogosphere. I'm certain I've seen some of your posts before on Universal Hub, which I agree is a fantastic site. I'll keep you on my daily blogroll and hope to see you on the pointy universe again soon! Thanks-Kate

You are certainly welcome, Kate. I've run this blog lo these 2-1/2 years and 500 blog posts, but I haven't posted as much these days because FB has become more interesting.

I'm glad Phase I of your treatment is done. Yes, my dad, Bernie, went through chemotherapy, only his was Stage IV lung cancer and spread everywhere, and unfortunately he succumbed to the disease in November 2005. Each person's fight against cancer is different; my father took it on as if it were working at his office.

Good luck and keep on giving your willing audience plenty of "asides!"

Brian
